Oil sharks and paybacks...

Oil company cutbacks may raise gas prices down the road

Very funny..."down the road"

Actually, none of this is funny. The following sentence reveals a lot about the thinking in the oil industry:

"But the oil industry is quietly sowing the seeds for a sharp run-up in gas prices once demand recovers. "

I hope all the uninformed who were chanting, "Drill baby, drill" take note.

What to do now is to make sure there is no recovery in demand. This is the control American consumers rarely take advantage of in time to prevent what we lived through last year. Do it now - exert some control over this out-of-control market.

"We just don't see any reason to accelerate production in a very low-price environment," says Vince White, Devon's senior vice president of investor relations."

They are cutting back exploration and development because they don't think they will make enough money!

These are the same companies who spent millions of dollars lobbying Bush & Co to get them NEW oil leases...now they are doing less with what they already had?

I'm not sure how anyone can not see the blatant greed in this industry.

Permanently destroying our coastlines to benefit companies with this ideology makes no sense to anyone who has any. The self-interest of the industry is clear.
